What is Outdoor Fit?
Outdoor Fit is the closest thing to a fitness/boot camp that we offer at Lifeforce. Join Jay at the studio for a quick stretch and then enjoy crazy fitness for an hour. We jog over to park or up Skinnner Butte for most workouts, which include everything from jumping rope, to plyometrics, to speed work to tire pulling. Jay provides the motivation and the workouts that get you fit fast.
What is Hatha Yoga?
Hatha yoga balances mind and body via physical exercises, or "asanas", controlled breathing, and the calming of the mind through relaxation and meditation. Asanas teach poise, balance & strength and are practiced to improve the body's physical health and clear the mind in preparation for meditation and the pursuit of expanding consciousness.
What is Powerfit Yoga?
Powerfit is for people who want to focus primarily on the asana, or physical postures, component of their yoga practice. Combining strength, balance, flexibility and inversion poses in continuous, fast paced sessions, the class is sure to make you sweat out toxins while building energy and strength.
What is Lifeforce Boxing?
Taught by martial arts expert Adam Roberts, Lifeforce Boxing is an uptempo boxing class for anyone who wants a great workout while learning a new skill. Not only will you learn proper boxing/kickboxing techniques, you get to hit focus mitts while wearing boxing gloves (which we provide).
What are Traditional Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong?
Tai Chi Chuan is a series of slow, soft, and connected movements that integrate breath and concentration to create what is commonly known as the form. It is a mind-body exercise that is intended to train the student to relax the muscles, free the mind of stress-producing thoughts, and open the channels or meridians of the body to allow chi (life energy) to flow openly throughout the bodywhich energizes, cleanses, renews, and establishes a general sense of well-being.
Regular practice of Tai Chi Chuan can reduce stress, increase flexibility and circulation, and promote a stronger commitment to health and personal growth.
Traditional Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan had been passed down from generation to generation from direct descendants of the Yang family. Hence, it is identical to that taught by Yang Chengfu, know as the father of modern Tai Chi Chuan. Today, the teaching of traditional Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan is done by Yang Zhenduo (4th Generation Yang Family), third son of Yang Chengfu, and recognized as the current lineage Grand Master and his grandson, Yang Jun (6th generation).
The ancient Chinese healing practice of Qigong includes many exercises which are intended to stimulate specific meridians and/or functions of the endocrine system by practicing slow and repetitive movements linking breathing patterns with movements that focus attention on the flow of energy throughout the meridian system. This may be achieved with either little or no movement or with repetitive movement where the focus is on sinking and rising, pushing and pulling, or softness and firmness.
When practiced alone as a daily exercise form, Qigong can promote greater integration of the body's own natural healing powers, restore harmony and balance, increase muscle and joint flexibility, and provide greater efficiency in circulation and breathing.
James Fox is a certified Advanced Instructor and disciple of Grandmaster Zhang Yuanming. With over 30 years of training, he is one of Eugenes most distinguished Tai Chi and Qigong instructors.
