Teacher Training

The Lifeforce Fitness Project became a Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Teacher Training Facility this summer.  Currently, Jay is leading four students through the initial RYT 200 program at The Lifeforce Fitness Project School of Yoga.  This October, Bethany, Aaron, Dannette and Katie will all be certified yoga instructors!  Please call Jay at 541-743-0778 for details about the Winter 2011 Teacher Training Program!

The next yoga teacher training will begin January 6th, 2012.  The three month program will meet for 3 long weekends and most Sundays during that time.

Thanks for your interest in the 2012 January Yoga Teacher Training Program at The Lifeforce Fitness Project School of Yoga.

The program meets the Yoga Alliance 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher certification requirements.  The Lifeforce Fitness Project is a certified Yoga Alliance teacher training facility, and Jay is a certified Yoga Alliance Teacher Trainer.

We will start January 6th at Lifeforce.  The training starts at 5pm and will go until 10 on that first Friday.  The next morning we drive to Florence for a 2 day immersion, which starts at 1pm on Saturday and continues until 5 pm on Sunday.


The remaining schedule:

Sunday 1/15 12pm-6pm

Sunday 1/22  12pm-6pm

2 days TBA that meet during the week for 4 hours each during the month of January.


February 3, 4 and 5 Immersion (in Portland).  We will start at 5 pm on Friday and go until 5pm on Sunday.

Sunday 2/12 12-6pm

Sunday 2/19 12-6pm

2 days TBA that meet during the week for 4 hours each during the month of February.


March 2,3 and 4 immersion at a site to be decided on by the group.   

Sunday 3/11 12-6pm

Sunday 3/18 12-6pm  OUR LAST DAY!!

2 days TBA that meet during the week for 4 hours each during the month of March...before 3/18.


You will be expected to do homework between all sessions...and will need to show up the first day having completed about 10 hours of self study (Sanskrit memorization, Sun Sals memorized, Moon Sal memorized)

The program cost is $2300.  A $500 deposit is required by December 1st.  The balance is due 1/6 unless other arrangements are made with Jay.


Yoga Alliance Requirements for RYT 200:

Techniques Training/Practice (100 hours)

Includes asanas, pranayamas, kriyas, chanting, mantra, meditation and other traditional yoga techniques. These hours must be a mix between: 1) analytical training in how to teach and practice the techniques and 2) guided practice of the techniques themselves. Both areas must receive substantial emphasis. Note: Contact Hours in this category must be in a dedicated yoga teacher training environment (into which others might occasionally be invited) rather than in classes intended for the general public. 

Teaching Methodology (25 hours)

Includes principles of demonstration, observation, assisting and correcting, instruction, teaching styles, qualities of a teacher, the student's process of learning and business aspects of teaching yoga.  Although your curriculum may include more than five hours on business aspects of teaching yoga, a maximum of five such hours can be counted.

Anatomy and Physiology (20 hours)

Includes both human physical anatomy and physiology (bodily systems, organs, etc.) and energy anatomy and physiology (chakras, nadis, etc.). Includes both the study of the subject and application of its principles to yoga practice (benefits, contraindications, healthy movement patterns, etc). A minimum of five hours must be spent applying anatomy and physiology principles to yoga. 

Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics for Yoga Teachers (30 hours)

Includes the study of yoga philosophies, yoga lifestyle and ethics for yoga teachers. A minimum of two contact hours must be spent on ethics for yoga teachers.

Note: A minimum of 2 contact hours must be spent on ethics for yoga teachers.

Practicum (10 hours)

Includes practice teaching, receiving feedback, observing others teaching and hearing and giving feedback. Also includes assisting students while someone else is teaching.

Note: A minimum of 5 contact hours must be spent actively teaching (not assisting or observing)

Electives (15 hours)
